David A. Hamilton Americana Books specializes in antiquarian stock, specifically American and Southern history, but we offer a wide range of books in all fields. We started business selling part time in 1993 at the Lakewood Antiques Market, regional book fairs and other antique markets. In 1994 Americana Books joined the Georgia Antiquarian Association of Booksellers (GABA). In 2007, Americana Books along with another dealer, purchased the inventory of former GABA member Memorable Books shop in Stone Mountain.
From 2007 to 2013, Americana Books grew their business and started selling at more book fairs and on the internet. In November of 2012, Americana Books became a member of the national association Antiquarian Bookseller’s Association of America (ABAA). In 2013, after retiring from a 30 year career working for the State of Georgia, Americana Books went into book selling full time.
In the fall of 2013, Americana Books attended the Colorado Antiquarian Booksellers Seminar (CABS) in Colorado Springs. The knowledge gained form this intensive week long schedule of classes helped improve the professional side of our business. (For anyone interested in learning about the history, handling, cataloging, collecting of books and the bookselling trade I highly recommend taking this class).
Since 2013 American Books has continued to expand its business and has a presence at many book fairs, internet bookselling sites, issuing catalogs, and promoting and supporting the Antiquarian Bookselling trade.
